Mid-Season Grades

Published by blair2975 at 10:58 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

After today’s loss to Detroit, it is time to give the 2008 Twins their mid-season grades and hand out some mid-season awards.

Offense: B- This team is overacheiving in the hitting department. Despite being one of the worst power teams, the Twins have scored enough runs to be one of the AL’s better teams. This trend will have to continue if they want to advance to the playoffs.

Defense: C+ - When they are good in the field, there isn’t many better, but with a ton of youth in the field, the team is prone to making costly errors. Mark my words, this grade will be much higher by the end of the season.

Starting Pitching: B+ - Can’t ask for more from a rotation that lost Santana and Liriano. Guys like Baker, Perkins and Blackburn have accepted their roles and have been successful.

Bullpen: D - Other than Joe Nathan the bullpen has underachieved so far. Too many missed opportunities and too many injuries.

Manager: A - Gardenhire is to be appluaded for his work this first half. this team had low expectations and now they seem like true contenders.
